Flaky OSB Roof Sheathing - 15 Replies

Inspected a 1985 home today with flaky OSB roof sheathing under the eaves. The sheathing has been painted/stained, but the flaking is the OSB itself, not the paint/stain. Roof covering is new and the OSB looks good in the attic. Any ideas how to call this......

Seller had indicated to the buyers that two windows seals were not functioning properly any longer. There was no moisture present between the panes, just these weird purple-ish spots all over. This 5 yr old bldg has quite a bit of efflorescence (I think) coming out of the upper wall weeps. Some of them almost looked deliberately sealed but the stuff was hard and calcified when I scraped it so I'm assumimg salt. Nearly all the upper weeps had white stuff coming out of them. It was brick........

I see wood trim and siding installed with out the proper clearance to flashing, concrete and earth. I know it's wrong and there should be clearance to prevent wicking of moisture which will lead to rot and detereration.
